Thanos Psimitis, founder of "PSIMITIS GROUP".
1958
Thanos Psimitis actively participates in importing the first heart catheter (COURNAND) , manufactured by "U.S.C.I." and provides technical support to the first right heart catheterizations.
1958
Technical support to the Seldinger Technique for percutaneous transluminal angiography using "U.S.C.I." needles.
1959
Technical support to selective coronary angiography using Sones catheter by "U.S.C.I.".
1961
Collaboration with "ELECTRONICS FOR MEDICINE (E.F.M.)" which has been the distributor for Medtronic in Europe since 1960.
1963
Technical support to the first external heart defibrillation.
1964
"A. Psimitis - Quality Medical Supplies" (A.P.) is founded and is appointed as the exclusive distributor of "U.S.C.I." The name Psimitis soon became a byword for the new and pioneering technology regarding interventional and surgical techniques, mainly in the cardiovascular field.
1965
Thanos Psimitis, as distributor of "ELECTRONICS FOR MEDICINE" (E.F.M.), provides technical support to the implantation of the first "Medtronic" pacemaker.

Technical support to the first implantation of the De Bakey aortic graft by "U.S.C.I.".

Exclusive distribution of "EDWARDS Laboratories". Technical support to the first surgical valve replacement using Starr - Edwards.

Exclusive distribution of "SARNS" and technical support to the first open heart surgery with extracorporeal circulation.

Technical support to the first external temporary pacing, through an electrode catheter (U.S.C.I).

"BARD" acquires "U.S.C.I" and "A. PSIMITIS" is appointed as exclusive distributor in Greece.

Technical support to the first embolectomy procedure with Fogarty Catheter by "EDWARDS"

Technical support to wedge pressure measurements with Swan-Ganz catheter of "EDWARDS".

Exclusive distribution of "DATASCOPE" for the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Catheters and Monitors.

Under the direction of Elina Psimitis, the company’s branch for northern Greece is founded in Thessaloniki.
1985
Elina Psimitis is getting trained in angioplasty and provides technical support to the first cases in Greece using "U.S.C.I. - BARD" catheter balloons. Psimitis team has the honour and priveledge of contributing to these first important attempts.
1988
Elina Psimitis undertakes "BARD", specialized in the fields of: Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Oncology, Hernia Repair and Endoscopy. Manuela Psimitis undertakes "DATASCOPE", "SARNS" and "EDWARDS" in Cardiac Surgery field.
1988
"Fast Medical Service" (F.M.S.) is founded by John Mersinias. The company provides technical support and service to all medical equipment of "PSIMITIS" group.
1989
The first coronary angioplasty (PTCA) with products from "U.S.C.I - BARD", which were sent from Greece, is successfully held in Cyprus.
1991
The beginning of percutaneous occlusion of heart structural diseases. First implantation of Rashkind Catheter (use for PDA occlusion) in Greece.
1991
Exclusive distribution of "G.U." for surgical instruments.
1993
Exclusive distribution and technical support to the application of "BARD"'s Marlex hernia mesh.
1993
First presentation of the Electrophysiology Recording System: LabSystem by "BARD", in Greece.

Exclusive distribution of "CARDIOMETRICS". Technical support to the pioneering method of coronary flow reserve measurement. Technical support of "DEBATE", the first international multicenter study with Greece's participation.

"BARD" rewards Thanos Psimitis with a memorial medal for the completion of 35 years of successful collaboration.

Exclusive distribution of "MEDTRONIC" for diagnostic and interventional cardiology products, followed by acquisitions of "A.V.E.", "BARD - U.S.C.I.".

"ELENI PSIMITIS S.A." is awarded by "MEDTRONIC" with two prizes: for outstanding contribution and for achieving the number one position in revenues for the year 2000.

"ELENI PSIMITIS S.A." is certified in accordance with the international standard EN ISO 9002:1994, EN 46002 and M.D. E3/833/99.

"BARD HELLAS S.A". is founded under the supervision of "ELENI PSIMITIS S.A.". The company is designated exclusive distributor and is responsible for the operation of "BARD Hellas S.A.".

Exclusive distribution of "AGA MEDICAL", in Greece and Cyprus, for the Amplatzer line of products for the interventional therapy of congenital heart diseases.

Collaboration with "BIOHEART" for the cardiac muscle regeneration system.

Import and technical support of Luminexx, "BARD"'s peripheral stent.

Certification according to the standard ISO 13485:2003 and to the new standard DY8/1348/2004.

Meeting with Earl Bakken, founder of "MEDTRONIC", in his office at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Elina Psimitis was personally awarded by Earl Bakken with the Medallion that symbolizes "MEDTRONIC"'s vision and mission, expressing his appreciation for the excellent collaboration.

Celebration for the 50 years of "PSIMITIS" in the medical field. As part of the actions for the promotion of Greek culture, the company publishes the book “Forms of Light in the dark”, by Nikos Koulamas.
